Bathware Basics: Turn a Simple Bath Into a Design Star

I’ve always wondered what bathrooms in large, ultra expensive yachts look like. If the bedrooms and kitchens are state of the art, I can only imagine how good the bathware may look – sparkling stainless steel, golden or platinum elements, thick glass doors, marble floors… ah, all the perks rich people can afford. Plus, having in mind that these bathrooms aren’t exactly serving just for a quick shower before bed, it’s only normal for them to be as large as your living room and equipped with alien technology. You know, for a time well spent.

Bathroom-Design

While we, mere mortals are far away from what is known as a yacht life-Roman Abramovich style, what we can steal from these real-life fantastic examples of the rich and the powerful, are design ideas. Maybe it won’t be marble floors and golden shower heads, but it will be as stylish and well combined.

Give It Space

Lesson number one – do not ever allow any room in your home to be small and suffocating. It’s just so not Feng Shui. If you’re in the process of building your new home, argue about it with the architect. If you’re moving into a new home, argue with the owner to allow you to create space. This also matters about the bathroom (especially about the bathroom!), if you want to give it meaning and identity. While this is a matter of discussion, there’s something else you can do to create the illusion of a larger space – manipulate colours. When you choose your bathware products, make sure they’re all in the same colour. Don’t go nuts with steel and then turn to plastic pieces and similar crazy moves.

Make It a Sanctuary

Now, you may think that bathrooms in those expensive yachts you see only on Google images serve for people to take a shower after they’ve been sunbathing or swimming. Stop right there. People who own yachts in the first place, do not need to take a quick shower – they can host a party in their bathrooms if they feel like it. Because they can, they want to, and they probably made it to a point of having an army of people do their job for them. Talking about life goals, ha?

Once you made your bathroom large enough and chose the bathware products in the same colour, next thing is to add a dose of freshness to create the sanctuary effect – nice, soothing smell, an occasional green plant and of course, candles.

The Notorious Degree of Cleanness

They’re never enough clean when it comes to bathrooms. And as all of you may have noticed by now, the cleaner the elements are, the better the bathroom looks. So when you install your perfect porcelain basin and toilet, along with a ceramic or porcelain bath in the middle, have in mind that these materials require frequent maintenance and cleaning because they put on display every hair and dust that falls on them. I know, kind of bothering, but when you clean it and sparkle it, it really shines amazingly. And not to mention the attention they’ll catch of any potential guests.

Bottom line, if your bathroom is old and rusty, think about having a renovation process. You may not be able to afford a golden toilet, but you can at least have a decent, stylish and elegant bathroom. Moreover, with a drop or two of essential oils, you may even have a spa treatment you’ll enjoy a lot.
