The Lowdown on Blundstone Boots: Stylish Footwear for Any Occasion
Whether you’re going for a short hike or a stroll around town, you’ll need a pair of high-quality, cosy, and water-resistant boots. While there are many different footwear brands on the market, not all of them fill these requirements. If you’re looking for a reputable Australian footwear brand that offers high-quality boots, I suggest that you give Blundstone a try!
About Blundstone
This renowned Aussie-based company dates back to 1870. It specialises in leather boots that can withstand any type of weather or terrain. These boots are durable, fashionable, and available for both men and women.
Today, although Blundstone’s headquarters are still in Tasmania, they’ve moved their production overseas while keeping their commitment to making top-notch footwear.
The Most Versatile Boots on the Market
Whether you’re looking for classic walking boots or dress boots Blundstone has the pair for you! They’re available in a wide range of pull-on and lace-up designs that go with any type of wardrobe. These boots are made from premium quality water-resistant leather and have cushioned footbeds that will keep you comfortable even after wearing them for hours.
These boots are made for everyone, from hikers to business people. Hiking boots don’t have to be large and bulky anymore to be comfortable. They can be chic and stylish Chelsea boots that are optimised for bad weather and consistent wear and tear.
These boots come in a wide variety of designs apart from the classic Chelsea boots. The women’s series, as well as the Original, Dress, and Thermal (waterproof) lines are among the most popular Blundstone shoes. Most of these boots are variations of the popular Chelsea boots and they’re available in several different finishes to complement your personal style.
Are Blundstone Boots Durable?
The adaptability this brand’s footwear offers—whether it’s raining or sunny—is one of the major reasons I take them everywhere with me. Depending on the design and finish you choose, they’re a great option for your night-time hiking adventures! Many people also wear Blundstones as a part of their workwear outfit. However, if your job entails lifting heavy weights or using harsh chemicals, specialised safety work boots might be a better fit for you!
Hiking boots will quickly wear out if you wear them while walking on concrete in the city. Blundstones, however, are an exception to this. They’re excellent hiking boots for short excursions, but if you want to tackle longer, more strenuous hikes, I’d choose the original series with laces for additional support.
The durable Blundstone boots are also suitable for any weather, whether it’s spring, summer, fall, or wintertime. They’re water resistant, which is important if you want to spend the entire day outside because you never know what the weather will be like when you’re on vacation. Your Blundstones are boots that can handle anything!
How Do I Take Proper Care of My Blundstone Boots?
Blundstones are tough boots made to last in all conditions. However, just as with any high-quality shoe, they need proper care. By doing the proper maintenance, you will make sure that your Blundstones remain in good condition for longer.
I applied a water-resistant spray on my boots when I initially got them to further protect them from rain. I suggest applying this spray at least once a year to keep your boots in top shape! The shoe wax and cream are also helpful products when it comes to preserving the colour of your boots. Keep in mind that rustic Blundstones might not need any wax to look stunning.
After the first year, I did discover that I need to change the insole more often. They were utterly flat from constant use. Replacing the old sole with a new, clean one was quite nice. (P.S. You don’t need to purchase branded insoles; these boots are compatible with most insoles that you can find) For even more support, I swapped them out for a pair of arched insoles.
How Do I Pick the Right Pair of Blundstone Boots?
The two most popular boot styles are the Original and the Classic Series. Even though they’re both types of Chelsea boots, Blundstone made them differ in a few ways. The Original boot has a leather lining while the Classic has a cotton or “cambrelle” lining (this makes the Classic a warmer boot). The Original runs a little bit narrower than the Classic boot, which results in a different fit.
The Original 500 series (which also offers a hiking-friendly lace-up boot) and the Classic 585 boot are their most popular boots. What I like most about their Classic 585 model is the stylish rustic finish.
Take Some Time to Break Them In
Make sure you have enough time to break in Blundstones before your trip if you plan on travelling with them. I purchased mine in preparation for a four-month vacation to Europe, and I immediately regretted having done so. I didn’t give myself enough time to break them in.
The key is to break them in gradually and avoid wearing them too much at first. Start off slowly by wearing them for extended periods each day. Everybody’s experience with breaking in their Blundstones is different. It might not take long at all – for some people, it takes only a few weeks!
