Courageous – The Christian Drama Movie
Courageous is an incredible Christian drama movie produced by Sherwood Pictures and directed by Alex Kendrick. This beautiful drama was released in theaters in September 2011. The movie was filmed in Albany, Georgia, USA. This new movie from Sherwood Pictures, the same movie production that created ‘Facing the Giants‘ and ‘Fireproof‘, is better than the previous works. The biblical message of Courageous is good and clear, but its delivery, from a critical standpoint, is weakened by the overwhelming dialogue and some rookie acting.

The Courageous Movie In A Minute – Four police officers, Shane Fuller, Nathan Hayes, David Thomson and Adam Mitchell, are very confident as well as focused on their job as they protect and serve their community. Yet at the end of the day, they need to face their biggest challenge in life – fatherhood. Being a ‘good’ father is something that is missing in their lives as their children drift further and further away from their hands. When life becomes unbearable and secrets are revealed, they must bring themselves and their families closer to God.
The Bad And The Good In Courageous – This story is described as more engaging than Fireproof with lasting purpose and strong message. It is in some sense predictable, but it does reaffirm the biblical learning about the importance of the father in the family. Courageous analyzes the themes of redemption, grief, forgiveness and betrayal. Unfortunately, all the messages presented throughout the movie may not reach the wider population as the producers of Courageous would like. Too much dialogue distracts the viewers’ attention from the true action of the story, telling moviegoers instead of allowing the truth of the story to speak for itself. Although the director Alex Kendrick has a role in the movie, according to some critics, a more experienced actor would have probably pushed the film up a notch or two. The acting props go to Robert Amaya, who in the role of Javier Martines brings emotional depth into the Courageous.
Rated PG-13 due to the presence of some drug content and violence, Courageous is not a movie for little kids. Adults and teens will be fine seeing the Courageous. It is clean of foul language, but still it includes some violent scenes like shooting. Courageous is a great film that every parent, particularly dads should see. Although it has weaknesses, it send strong message.
