A grader machine is a large construction unit which is used for leveling uneven surfaces and for creating flat and smooth ground surface with a specific grade degree. However, there are also small grader machine models that come as separate units which can be mounted on a tractor or other similar purpose vehicle. A typical large grader machine is composed of a large steel blade attached below the unit and positioned between the front and the rear axle. The tilt, height and the angle of the blade can be adjusted by the operator in order to achieve the desired grading. A road grader machine has many uses. For example, it can be used for preparing a new base for paving, for maintaining roads, and for snow removal.

The grader machine is most commonly used in the construction industry. It is used to provide a smooth finish by a rough grading. This machine can roughly grade the surface with high accuracy. However, the blade of the grader machine is adjustable in order to allow an accurate leveling of any surface. The result will certainly be a perfectly leveled area. A grader machine is also used for giving the road surface a specific incline once it is paved. Maintaining gravel and removing dirt are some other common uses for the grader machine.

The blade of the road grader machine varies in size, depending on the needs and the nature of the work. It is usually from 2.5 to 7.5 meters. In some cases, such as for snow removal, the grader machine comes with two blades for increased efficiency. The engine also vary in terms of power, from 125 to 500 horsepower. The new grader machine models come with GPS technology which allows the operators to complete the job more accurately and with greater control.

The small sized grader machines which are attached on a purpose vehicles are most commonly used for making and maintaining dirt and gravel roads and for other small construction projects, such as parking lots or driveways. The larger grader machines, on the other hand, are most commonly used for tougher applications, such as site preparation on a construction field, snow removal, construction and maintenance of roads and highways, and sometimes in underground mining. Today, there are many popular grader machine manufacturers, including: Volvo Construction Equipment, Caterpillar, Liu Gong, Komatsu, Case, Terex, Mitsubishi, John Deere and Fiat.
