Choosing the Perfect Home Window Treatment: Roller Blinds vs Curtains
To begin, I must say that I enjoy both curtains and roller a great deal. There are times when they look better alone and times when they look better together. Because of this, if you are putting the finishing touches on your interior makeover, or your new dream home, you may be wondering whether to use curtains or blinds.
It’s not always easy to decide what to buy because there are so many features, colours, fabrics, and designs to pick from. But it would help if you invest time researching about it because it will change how your room and home look and feel. Also, you’ll be spending a lot of time looking at it, so take your time and find the style of curtains or roller blinds for window treatment you like.
Curtains
Most people know that curtains have been around for a very long time. There is no doubt that a beautiful set of curtains hung from a decorative rail can make any room look rich, beautiful, and soft. The thick material not only looks great, but it also sets the mood in your room and keeps draughts and heat loss from your windows out. On cold nights, this keeps the space warm and cosy. Because they insulate the best, additional accessories such as drapes are the best way to keep your home warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
Curtains are also a great way to block out noise, especially in homes near busy roads. They are equally trendy in theatre rooms that many families are putting in their new residences. Curtains, if thick enough block out light as good as a roller blind, but they can be more expensive. This is because this type of curtains is made with a lot of fabric and happens to be hand-sewn. They also need to be hung or mounted on a track, and the quality of the fabric is important.
They are, however, a great buy if the fabric is classic, as they will last a very long time if you take good care of them. Roller blinds are easier to clean and maintain than curtains, even though curtains are more beautiful and expensive. Curtains have their care guidelines, and they can be cleaned in many ways, such as by washing and rehanging, dry cleaning, or ultrasonic cleaning. In a big room, curtains are the best way to make it look bigger, as they add a touch of luxury and personality to any room, especially if they match your other furniture or decorative pieces such as your couch cushions.
Roll Up Blinds
On the other hand, roller blinds for window can provide a very different set of advantages. Because they come in so many fabrics, you’re sure to find one that pairs with your style. A roller blind can even be made from curtain cloth that is glued to an acrylic backing.
Most importantly, roller blinds do what they’re supposed to do, which is to work well, block light, and keep places warm. They can be useful in many ways. For example, light-filtering roller blinds let light into a room while still giving you privacy. That being said, these window covers can be used to stop all light from coming through, which is exactly what you want in a bedroom or living room.
As previously mentioned, roller blinds are very simple to clean. Just use a damp cloth and warm water, or use a vacuum tool to get rid of the dust. By far, the cheapest way to decorate your windows is with blinds. However, be careful about the quality of the fabric you buy. The roller blinds from some of the big hardware stores won’t last nearly as long as those made with good materials and put up by a professional.
The best thing about choosing them over the alternative window treatment is that they never go out of style. This is because curtains are simple and come in designs that may go out of style from time to time, so you’d have to change them more often if you like to keep up the pace with trends.
Or… Have Both
Certain rooms, such as bedrooms where you need a good night’s sleep, require roller blinds, same as rooms that get exposed to a lot of sunshine and you have a hardwood floor you want to protect or some leather furniture. Curtains, although practical, are more desired for their aesthetical versatility and diversity of textures and styles.
However, depending on the size of your house and family members, you can combine both either on the same window or different window treatment choices for different rooms, depending on what you use it for. Whatever choice you make, it’s always best to invest in high-quality designs that will serve your family for a long, long time.
