LED Rechargeable Torch: A Handy Tool Man Should Carry

It’s a man’s primordial need to carry a fire in his hand, but as time passed by and technology took over the world, carrying a fire in your hand when in the dark has become more intimidating and scary than seeing it as normal and a simple way to illuminate your path. That being said, men were introduced with torches that work on batteries and serve to provide light in a simple way: by pushing a single button. Therefore, you can’t call yourself a man if you don’t own at least one quality torch. And not just about any type of torch, but a LED rechargeable torch.

The type of bulb
As I said, not any type of bulb, but a LED one. You need a LED rechargeable torch if you want to rest assured you won’t be left out to dry in the middle of the dark woods when you go camping. LED bulbs can last up to 100.000 hours and are pretty energy-efficient as they use only 20-25% of the energy they produce as incandescent. They provide you with a softer light and are a lot cheaper than other types.

The battery type
The kind of battery your torch uses is very important for several reasons. Most of the torches run on lithium batteries since these are perfect for long-term storage and can be used in cold conditions. There are the renewable ones, which obviously require you to have a stash of reserves with you, and then there are the rechargeable batteries, which are perfect since they don’t need to be changed frequently but simply be charged. However, they do have one flaw: if you’re in the woods with no electricity available, you won’t be able to recharge your battery if it runs out.

The material
How the torch feels and looks in your hand is important. You want something appealing to your eye, with a good feel on the touch and generally looking fancy and appealing. You can choose from the two main types: plastic and aluminium. Aluminium models offer high durability and are a lot heavier, while plastic ones are simpler and have kind of a dull design.

Finally, what type would you choose?
A torch is a large category including a number of different models – a tactical torch which is designed to fit on weapons, key chain or EDC (every day carry) models which are designed to be attached on keys and are typically very small, utility torches which are the basic model that every household has, industrial torches with specific features, and finally, the heavy duty ones, which are definitely not designed to be carried around.

It really depends on what you need from a torch; if it’s hunting that you’re aiming for, you may want to consider a tactical one, or if you just need to get a torch to serve as a light provider in dark conditions, the basic utility one would be perfect for the purpose.
